Nitrogen-Oxygen Generation Unit

Nitrogen is a naturally occurring industrial gas with a wide range of applications across various industries. Its major applications include Ammonia production, use as an inert gas in tanks and pipelines, and injection into oil and gas wells and pipelines to increase pressure or reduce oxygen levels, among other applications. Depending on the intended use, Nitrogen is supplied in both gaseous and liquid forms. Several methods are available for its production:

  • Cryogenic Method

For large-scale production of liquid Nitrogen, the cryogenic process is commonly employed. This process consists of several stages, including air compression, cooling, drying, and subsequent rapid expansion. Once the air is liquefied, the liquid stream is introduced into a distillation column, where its various components are separated based on differences in their boiling points. As a result, Nitrogen is separated from the other components of the air. When gaseous Nitrogen is required, in addition to the direct production of Nitrogen gas by this package, an evaporator can also be used to convert liquid Nitrogen into gaseous Nitrogen by utilizing the heat available from the surrounding environment.

  • Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA)

In this process, air is passed through a molecular adsorbent bed, where oxygen molecules and other gases are captured by the adsorbent, allowing only high-purity Nitrogen to pass through. The Nitrogen produced by this method is obtained in gaseous form. The same process can also be applied for the production of oxygen.
