Spiral Heat Exchanger

Spiral heat exchangers are constructed from some parallel plates wound spirally around a central core. The fluid flow within these exchangers is generally highly turbulent and characterized by a high Reynolds number. Therefore, they are well suited for processes in which the fluid contains solid particles and there is a risk of particle deposition or fouling. They also provide good performance when handling fluids with high viscosity.

Other advantages of spiral heat exchangers include their compact size compared with similar heat exchangers of other types, lower operating costs, ease of cleaning, suitability for fluids containing solid or fibrous materials, and applicability to heating fluids that are highly sensitive to temperature. In addition, selecting an appropriate construction material can minimize the need for maintenance and repairs.
